Year 10 Students Discover Future Careers at the National Fruit Show

On Wednesday, a group of Year 10 students accompanied by Mrs Cameron attended the National Fruit Show for an eye-opening exploration of the modern horticulture and agriculture sectors.
The day kicked off with an engaging ‘Ready to Launch Your Career’ seminar led by specialists from MorePeople (horticulture and agriculture recruiters) alongside an agronomist from Agrii. The session highlighted the vast scope of roles available in the sector, emphasising the diverse entry routes and high-value transferable skills students can build.
Following the seminar, students met with representatives from Hadlow College to learn about post-16 educational pathways and vocational courses.
The highlight of the trip was a guided tour of the Fruit Show trade floor. Students engaged directly with exhibitors representing every corner of the industry, from local producers like Biddenden Kentish Vineyards to specialists in agricultural banking, specialised insurance, and solar farm technology. They also gained insight into cutting-edge developments transforming the field, including advanced produce storage, sustainable farming practices, and the biotransformation of agriculture.
It was a fascinating day that clearly demonstrated just how dynamic, tech-driven, and broad-ranging future careers in this sector can be.
