If current students need to nominate a family member or friend to collect their certificate(s), the process is as follows:

1.) The student will need to email the Examinations Officer (dmaudon@bordengrammar.kent.sch.uk), via their Borden email account, with the full name of their nominated person at least two working days before they arrive at school.

2.) The nominated person must bring a valid form of ID when collecting the certificate(s) and their name will be checked against the student's email.

If ex-students (Y11 or Y13 in 2025) need to nominate a family member or friend to collect their certificate(s), the process is as follows:

1.) The ex-student will need to email the Examinations Officer (dmaudon@bordengrammar.kent.sch.uk), via their Borden email account, with the full name of their nominated person at least two working days before they arrive at school. Please be aware: Ex-students' Borden email accounts will cease being active at the end of January 2026. After this time, any emails received from external email addresses will be subject to additional identity checks.

2.) The nominated person must bring a valid form of ID when collecting the certificate(s) and their name will be checked against the ex-student's email.

Please be advised: JCQ regulations state that centres must keep examination certificates for a period of 12 months from the date of issue, after which they may destroy any unclaimed certificates by a secure method. A record of all certificates destroyed by a centre should be kept for a period of four years from the date of destruction. Once a centre has destroyed certificates (only after a period of 12 months) the only way a candidate can get a replacement copy is to contact the exam boards directly - the exam boards charge candidates a fee for this service.

Once again, all of our visitors were hugely complimentary about the enthusiasm of the students, parents and carers they spoke to, and feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive too, with many remarking how knowledgeable the exhibitors were about different pathways.

We have had another year of outstanding results for our year 11 students at Borden Grammar School. An impressive 41% of our year 11 students achieved five or more of their grades in the highest band (7-9) with 21 of these students achieving the top grades (7-9) in 9 or more of their GCSEs.

Grade 9 is achieved by less than 2% nationally and this year, 2 Borden students (Rafael D and Ethan T) achieved an unbelievable 8 grade 9s, with 12 students achieving 5 or more Grade 9s.

Overall, the students achieved really strong grades with 41% of grades at the very highest grades (7-9) and 60% of all grades being awarded grades 6 to 9. This represents some outstanding outcomes from a cohort of students who have displayed immense levels of determination and resilience in their journey at Borden. We are very proud of the success of our students and look forward to seeing many return to us in year 12, wishing the very best to those that are moving on to pursue their journey elsewhere. 

Exam results will be issued on Thursday 21st August from 9:00am – 11:00am. Results will be available in the V block (not the library as previously stated). Entry to the school will be through the pedestrian gate. Envelopes with student results will be issued in the sports hall, with space for individual conversations and advice in the upstairs area of the V block.

This was another very successful year for our post 16 students here at Borden. Ten of our students have achieved an incredible 3 or more top grade (A or A*) across their 3 or 4 subjects, these students are Jamie B, Tyler B, Ife F, Thomas F, Luke G, Nicholas H, Samuel H, Chris M, Toni O and Alyn P.

Overall, this cohort of students achieved strong grades across their courses, with 24% of grades being awarded at A*/A and 52% of all grades being awarded at A*- B. This represents some outstanding outcomes from a cohort of students who have displayed immense levels of determination and resilience during the course of their A level studies. These impressive results have allowed our students to successfully move on to the next stage of their education or careers. All of this means that a great many of our students have secured places at prestigious universities, including Bristol, Durham, Exeter, Kings (London), London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE), Manchester and Warwick as well as more locally at Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Other students have been equally successful in securing high quality apprenticeship and degree apprenticeship opportunities at local companies as well as blue chip companies in London.

We are very proud of the success of all of our students and wish all of them the very best of luck as they move into their chosen pathway, leaving Borden to change the world for the better.

We have been in touch with the food bank, and they are in need of all items. Examples of what can be donated are below:

Pot noodles and other instant snacks
Pasta/Rice

Gloves, hats and scarves
Toiletries – deodorant, toilet paper, shower gel, shaving gel, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, tooth paste, hand wipes
Household items – laundry liquid detergent, laundry powder, washing up liquid
Feminine products – sanitary towels and tampons
Baby supplies – nappies, baby wipes and baby food (please note, due to advice from UNICEF they cannot accept donations of formula milk)
Please note they are unable to accept any alcoholic items.

As well as staff and officers from the Kent and Medway Violence Reduction Unit, the event was organised by the KCC Social Services Team, the Metanoia project - who speak about the dangers of knife crime - as well as Homestart and Stagecoach. 

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Swale Cllr Ben J Marton, local MP Kevin McKenna, members of Kier Construction as well as a host of former staff and students. Music, performed by students from Borden, introduced the evening; fitting as Harold Vafeas had a passion for music and supported the arts during his time at the school. 

The Vafeas family, his wife Mrs Vafeas, along with her three grown-up children and two grandchildren were guests of honour at the event. Mrs Vafeas spoke about how she had met Harold when they were both teachers in the late 1970’s and his commitment to the school. It was his kindness that shined through, and former school captain and current Assistant Head Teacher Timothy Westby spoke about Harold’s dedication, especially in helping with the lengthy Oxbridge application process.  

Headteacher Ashley Tomlin concluded the speeches by unveiling with Mrs Vafeas a picture of Harold and a plaque that will be installed in the new building.

Grade 9 is only achieved by less than 2% nationally and this year, 2 Borden students achieved 6 grade 9s, one achieved 8 grade 9s and one student unbelievably achieved all 11 GCSEs at grade 9s.

This represents some outstanding outcomes from a cohort of students who have displayed immense levels of determination and resilience in their journey at Borden.
