Year 13 Annual Prize Giving

Borden Grammar School’s annual Prize Giving Evening was an opportunity to congratulate and acknowledge achievements by last year's Year 13 before they embarked on a life of study and careers outside of the school. Headteacher, Ashley Tomlin, paid tribute to the remarkable resilience and mental fortitude shown by the students in the last eighteen months with the impact of the Covid 19 global pandemic.

Thanks to technology, former student and ‘Innocent Drinks’ co-founder Dan Germain delivered the keynote speech.   He fondly recalled former Headteacher Bryan Short ensuring that Dan’s hair was above collar length by pointing him in the direction of the barbers in East Street.   Dan also had warm memories of Mr Short taking time to build relationships with pupils by asking them how they were and how their lessons were going.   Dan wished all prize winners the best of luck for their future destinations, and gave the advice ‘if you're not learning, you’re standing still’.  Advice that he had used when forming ‘Innocent Drinks’ and also in his current role at ‘Google’

School Captain, Thomas Blackmore, thanked Dan for his words of encouragement and concluded the evening with the school motto ‘strive onwards’.
